In an alternate reality, Braal is a planet located in the Milky Way Galaxy, the homeworld of a humanoid civilization known as the Braalians. By this reality's 30th century, Braal had entered a period of economic collapse and, despite being allied with the United Planets, the world was engaged in bitter rivalries with fellow UP members, including the Titanians of the Sol system's moon Titan.

As a natural adaptation protection from metallic animal lifeforms, the Braalians were possessed of a natural magnetism ability. Braal was the birthplace of Cosmic Boy, a founding member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. (TOS - Legion of Super-Heroes comic: "Issue 1")

The Legion's universe became crossed with the Star Trek universe due to a time distortion, so it is not clear if there is a Star Trek universe version of Braal as a counterpart to Cosmic Boy's homeworld depicted in the Legion series.
