Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

In an alternate reality, the Braalians were a civilization of sentient humanoid lifeforms, originating on homeworld Braal. In their reality, the Braalians possessed a natural ability to project and manipulate intense magnetism.

History[]

By their reality's 30th century, the Braalians were allied with the United Planets. Notable Braalians were Rokk and Pol Krinn, who both were sponsored into the Legion of Super-Heroes to use their abilities for the good of the galaxy.

Braalian Rokk Krinn was the first leader of the Legion, and a founding member. In his years as a member, he found himself in many major confrontations where he defended the United Planets from enemies, such as Darkseid. (TOS - Legion of Super-Heroes comic: "Issue 1")

Background[]

In DC Comics history, the Braalians were revealed to have been a group of genetically engineered humanoids who were part of a eugenics program to create superpowered beings undertaken by a species called the Dominators. A Daxamite hero rescued the test subjects and relocated them to new lives on other worlds. Those with magnetic powers were placed on a world populated by metallic animals, thus utilizing their ability and giving birth to the Braalian civilization. By the 30th century, Braal was a populated and thriving world, although with cycles of economic deficiency and poor relations with fellow worlds in the United Planets government.

The Legion's universe became crossed with the Star Trek universe due to a time distortion, so it is not clear if there is a Star Trek universe version of the Braalians. However, given their genesis as a "created" species, it doesn't seem likely the same sequence of events would have occurred.
