Braidwood was a civilian starship that was used for an anthropological expedition that had been out of contact for nearly a year by 2259. Its last message, transmitted to the expedition’s backers, spoke of the detection by long-range sensors of a society, apparently pre-warp, on FGC-7781’s largest planet FGC-7781 b. The USS Enterprise received this information and is sent to investigate the planet and search for the missing Braidwood crew. It is suggested that the Braidwood crew went down to look around and never came back. Among the crewmembers of Braidwood was Lila Talley. (SNW novel: The High Country)
