Briamos

Briamos was a planet, the second planet of the Briamos system. It was the homeworld of the Briamosite civilization, located within the Organian Treaty Zone in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.

History and specifics[]

Briamos was the capital of the United Systems of Briamos, a small interstellar state just outside of the Klingon Empire. The planet had a slightly heavier gravity than Earth.

In the 2260s, Federation Ambassador Joseph Laiguer and civilian sociologist Chu Leiski visited Briamos and became familiar with at least some of the natives' customs.

In 2270, the Briamosites abruptly decided to hold a conference to decide whether to ally with the Federation or Klingon Empire. The starship USS Enterprise was diverted to provide Federation representation, stopping along the way at Starbase 25 for key officers to be briefed on Briamosite culture. A recreational complex along a lakeshore not far from the planet's capital city hosted the negotiations, where the Council of Greater Briamos decided to join the Federation. It was the second planet of its system. One star chart denoted it as being in the general vicinity of Omega Fornacis, Mandel's Star, Vendor, and Romulan Neutral Zone Outposts 13 and 14 in treaty boundary quadrant 3 South. (ST reference: Star Trek Maps)
