A bridge officer was member of staff who was assigned to the command center of a vessel. In the 25th century, bridge officers formed the senior staff of Khitomer Alliance starships and were members of ship's departments. (STO - Call to Arms mission: "Reinforcements")

History and specifics[]

In the 23rd century, Starfleet bridge officers were usually members of one of three departments: sciences division, tactical division and engineering division. (STO video games: Age of Discovery, Agents of Yesterday)

Duty officers were the personnel who operated the ship under the auspices of the bridge officers. (STO - Call to Arms mission: "Reinforcements")

Besides the main three divisions, the Khitomer Alliances allowed for additional specializations in the 2410s, starting with commanding officers in the year 2410. (STO website: Delta Rising: Captain Specializations)

Specializations for commanding officers and their bridge officers beside science, tactical and engineering included: command officer, intelligence officer, miracle worker, pilot, temporal operative, constable, commando and strategist. Officers could pull double duty as a member of a primary department and a specialization. The arrangement of bridge officer stations based on rank, department and specialization could affect starship classification. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock")
