In the year 2381, Ensign Brill was the botanical specialist of the USS Demeter during that vessel's exploration of the Delta Quadrant. (VOY novel: Children of the Storm)
In February 2382, Brill accompanied Lieutenant Commander Atlee Fife on a tour of the agricultural planet Vitrum. Demeter's commanding officer, Commander Liam O'Donnell, wanted Brill and Fife to see the folly of the Confederacy of the Worlds of the First Quadrant's agricultural policies. Brill quickly identified how Vitrum's soil had been depleted during a tour of the farms of the Vitrum locals Cemt and Izly. (VOY novel: Acts of Contrition)
