The Brooklyn Bridge in the 1930s.

The Brooklyn Bridge was a bridge in New York City. It connects the boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan.

History and specifics[]

The Brooklyn Bridge was designed and built by the Roebling family. (SCE eBook: Enigma Ship)

When the bridge was built in the 19th century, scam artists sold unsuspecting newcomers deeds to the bridge, making "to buy the Brooklyn Bridge" a colloquialism for gullibility. (DS9 - Millennium novel: The Fall of Terok Nor)

In the year 1930, the time displaced Captain James T. Kirk took a walk with Edith Keeler over the Brooklyn Bridge, then they walked alongside it as they appreciated the evening view. In the 22nd century, the eastern tower of the bridge was damaged during the Caledonia incident and later rebuilt.

During their honeymoon in the 2250s decade, Leonard McCoy and Jocelyn McCoy watched the sunset from the Brooklyn Bridge, but an argument ruined their evening. (TOS - Crucible novel: Provenance of Shadows)

In the 23rd century, the Brooklyn Bridge was sold, taken apart and rebuilt in Luna's amusement park. This became known as one of the greatest industrial feats of the 23rd century. (DS9 - Millennium novel: The Fall of Terok Nor)

Alternate timelines[]

In the 1930s of a timeline he altered when time traveling through the Guardian of Forever and saving the life of Edith Keeler, the USS Enterprise's Doctor Leonard McCoy considered how to alert James T. Kirk to his presence in Earth's past while crossing the bridge. He first thought to leave a message somewhere on the bridge itself, before concluding that newspaper ads would be more likely to survive centuries later. In the 1940s of an alternate reality, when Germany invaded the United States, Alicia Travers witnessed scores of people fleeing Manhattan over the bridge. (ENT episode: "Storm Front")
