Brurem was an Orion Colony in the late 22nd century

It was also home to a pirate enclave. On reference stardate 1/1209.12 (circa 2186), the Thanatok, a Starfleet cruiser crewed entirely by Andorians with an overzealous captain, attacked and destroyed the enclave. A number of civilians were also killed.

The Botchok Planetary Congress protested the civilian deaths, and the Federation punished the Thanatok's captain. However, following the Brurem attack, the Federation kept similar incidents quiet. Meanwhile, pirate raids against Andorian targets increased. (FASA RPG module: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge)
