Bulgaria was a region of the European continent on the planet Earth.

History and specifics

In the 20th century, Bulgaria was one of many nations involved in the Cold war between Western powers and communist nations in the East.

In the year 1989, Gary Seven and Isis were in Bulgaria trying to ensure the peaceful fall of that nation's communist regime. While there, Seven was responsible for writing the resignation speech of Bulgarian President Todor Zhivkov. (TOS - The Eugenics Wars novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1)

In the 24th century, the majority of the population of the planet Sindikash had migrated from Eastern Europe to colonize that world. Jean-Luc Picard couldn't remember the particulars, but he knew many of the settlers had come from one specific region. In trying to remember, he supposed that it might have been Bulgaria, but wasn't entirely sure. (TNG - Day of Honor novel: Ancient Blood)
