Bulgaria and surrounding nations.

Bulgaria was a region of the European continent on the planet Earth.

History and specifics[]

In the 1990s, Burgaria was bordered by Romania to the north, the Black Sea to the east, and Turkey and Greece to the south. (TOS - Khan comic: "Issue 2")

In the 20th century, Bulgaria was one of many nations involved in the cold war between Western powers and communist nations in the East.

In the year 1989, Gary Seven and Isis were in Bulgaria trying to ensure the peaceful fall of that nation's communist regime. While there, Seven was responsible for writing the resignation speech of Bulgarian President Todor Zhivkov. (TOS - The Eugenics Wars novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1)

USS Narbonne CMO Sergey Varazdinski was born and raised in Bulgaria. (DSC novel: Drastic Measures)

In the 24th century, the majority of the population of the planet Sindikash had migrated from Eastern Europe to colonize that world. Jean-Luc Picard couldn't remember the particulars, but he knew many of the settlers had come from one specific region. In trying to remember, he supposed that it might have been Bulgaria, but wasn't entirely sure. (TNG - Day of Honor novel: Ancient Blood)
