Calvin Hutchison, also known as "Hutch", was a male human Federation Starfleet officer holding the rank of commander in the 24th century.
Biography[]
He was in charge of Arkaria Base and known to be a master of "small talk." By his own admission, he was not a fan of his first name.
In 2365 Hutchison had met Beverly Crusher; he did not see her again until 2369.
When the USS Enterprise came to the Remmler Array for a baryon sweep in 2369, Hutchison held a reception for the senior staff. Jean-Luc Picard advised Data to observe Hutch's use of small talk in the android's attempts to understand the concept. Mercenaries raided the celebration and murdered him.
