The interior of the Candlestick Auditorium on 12 August 2161.

The Candlestick Auditorium is the historic site of the signing of the Articles of the Federation on 12 August 2161 in San Francisco on Earth. At the time, the auditorium had been newly renovated. (ENT novel: Last Full Measure)

The auditorium was originally a sports stadium that was known as Candlestick Park. Built in 1960, the original stadium served as the home of the San Francisco Giants baseball team until 1999, as well as the San Francisco 49ers football team until 2013. The stadium was also noted as the site of The Beatles' final full concert in 1966. Torn down in 2014, the stadium was eventually re-built as an auditorium that featured prominently in early Federation history. (Historical accounts, ENT novel: To Brave the Storm)

In 2024, Benjamin Sisko, Julian Bashir and Jadzia Dax materialized from 2371 at a Trans Francisco entrance at Candlestick Park. (DS9 episode: "Past Tense, Part I")

Candlestick Park had a reputation for being cold and drafty soon after opening, and even with state of the art environmental systems, Candlestick Auditorium still had such problems in the mid 22nd century.

On March 5, 2155 a number of dignitaries - including Earth Starfleet Captain Jonathan Archer - assembled to sign the Coalition Compact - the document that formally established the Coalition of Planets. Also in attendance was a number of Enterprise officers and crew, including Hoshi Sato, Malcolm Reed, T'Pol, Phlox, and Travis Mayweather. Charles "Trip" Tucker was also present, disguised as a Romulan, as was his surviving family members, who were unaware of his presence at the ceremony. (ENT novel: The Good That Men Do)
