Caroline Victorial Gorden was a female Human in the 24th century serving as a Starfleet officer.

Biography[]

By the 2330s, Gorden had achieved the rank of captain and was the commanding officer of the starship USS Tripoli. In 2338, the Tripoli under Gorden discovered Data on Omicron Theta.

According to the novel Mystery of the Missing Crew, the Tripoli's captain at the time of Data's discovery was named Jon Jakob Thorsson.

Sometime after 2338, Gorden countered Federation Councillor Petrach Sormassov in testimony before the Federation Special Investigation Committee that Sormassov and others who say that Data is a dangerous monster is an unthinking alarmist and has never heard of Isaac Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics and that Data is more like an innocent child. Gorden also stated that if Data's continued existence further troubled Councillor Sormassov that she intended to prevent his dismantling, adopt this "child" of Dr. Soong's as her own son, and place his name in candidacy for Starfleet Academy.
