Carstairs served as a United Earth Starfleet in the 22nd century.
Biography[]
He was assigned to the Earth starship Enterprise (NX-01) as deputy communications officer under Ensign Hoshi Sato.
In January, 2152 Enterprise responded to a distress call from a Sarkassian moon outpost. The crew monted a search and rescue operation, at the destroyed outpost. He was on duty at the bridge, when two Sarkassian ship contacted Enterprise. Later he studied the alien symbols on metal fragment recovered from the moon. (ENT novel: What Price Honor?)
In 2153, Enterprise accidentally crossed over to a parallel universe, where they were attacked by the Denari who captured the ship. He along with the entire crew, was taken to the Rava One prison colony. Three weeks after their imprisonment, the Enterprise crew, led by Captain Archer, taken control of the facility and he put Carstairs in charge of the communications center. In 2155, he acted as comm officer while Ensign Sato was temporarily assigned to the starship S-12 of the Thelasian Trading Confederacy. (ENT novel: Rosetta)
