Gary Mitchell once tried to get Carvajal to switch duty shifts with Barton. His attempt led to a heated argument with Leonard McCoy in the Constitution's rec room, where McCoy branded Mitchell as manipulative. (TOS - My Brother's Keeper novel: Enterprise)
