We have Category:Alpha or Beta Quadrant races and cultures, which more accurately describes the purpose of this categorisation; for races and cultures which we know are from the Alpha or Beta Quadrant, but do not know which (as we have separate categories for those we are sure about). --8of5 21:00, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

I'm afraid I disagree -- I think the "or" introduces a little too much uncertainty to the title. I'd like to switch all the contained articles to the "and" category as they basically say the same thing. -- Captain MKB 21:20, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

I'd say the and is a little too certain though, and causes the category to be an inaccurate description of what it contains. It does not contain all the races and cultures of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, just the ones we know are from one or the other. (And if they "basically say the same thing" why change them anyway? The majority are already in the or category...) --8of5 21:28, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

As long as we categorize both the singular Alpha and Beta categories as subcategories, it will have all of them in it -- changing the description helps to make that subcategory description make a little more sense. -- Captain MKB 21:52, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

That does indeed make sense. --8of5 21:55, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

I apologize that the evolution of these categories has been somewhat.. convoluted -- the terminology has been difficult as I'm coming through and categorizing a great many articles without having full knowledge of the context behind them, therefore some situations are difficult to pick out right away. I'm a little stronger when I focus on more concrete things like ships and ranks. -- Captain MKB 22:01, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
