Cerberus II was a planet in the Cerberus system. It supported a local indigenous population as well as a Federation colony.

History[]

When she was ten years old, Joanna McCoy lived with her mother Jocelyn Treadway on Cerebus and attended middle school. (TOS - Crucible novel: Provenance of Shadows)

In 2259, during the Cerberus Crisis at the Cerberus colony, a crop failure threatened the lives of the colonists. Wealthy trader Carter Winston donated significant assets to avert tragedy. (TAS episode & Log Two novelization: The Survivor)

The episode cited Cerberus, but the novelization clarified that the colony was located on Cerberus II.

In 2269, Leonard McCoy thanked Winston for his help, explaining to James T. Kirk that his daughter had been on Cerberus at the time. (TAS episode & Log Two novelization: The Survivor)

The natives of Cerberus II had developed a rejuvenation process for the body and shared the secret with Admiral Mark Jameson after he had negotiated a treaty for the planet, only to have him administer an ultimately deadly overdose of the drugs used in the process to himself. (TNG episode: "Too Short a Season")

The planet was spelled Cerberus in the script, but closed captioning and StarTrek.com spelled it Cerebus, perhaps because Jameson pronounced it that way.
