The Cetratus-class was a type of starship operated by the Romulan Star Empire as a bomber in the 2250s[1] of the Kelvin timeline.

Overview[]

The class was a symmetrical design with six protruding arms; one of each of a pair pointing forward on either side of the vessels, and one of a set of four fanning forward but outward from the rear of the vessels. The class was faster than other Romulan designs at the time, and armed with explosive charges which it would be dropped in the vessels’ wake.

Like its contemporaries, the Centurion-class, Gladius-class, Patronus-class, and Securis-class, the Cetratus-class could, in addition to its standard systems, be armed with the repulsion charge and holo-mines, and could be equipped with a cloaking device and energy flux. Also in common with other classes, the Cetratus-class had at least one escape pod[2].

In the 2250s members of the Cetratus-class were part of the Romulan force that battled starships of the Federation. (TOS video game: D-A-C)

Appendices[]

Background[]

  • The name is derived from the cetratus, a light shield used by the Romans.
  1. 1.0 1.1 D-A-C gives no date, but as it features the USS Enterprise it is presumably set after the events of Star Trek, which featured the launch of the Enterprise in 2258.
  2. 2.0 2.1 D-A-C includes a feature allowing a player to launch an "escape pod" when their ship is about to be destroyed, permitting them to respawn and continue playing quicker.
  3. 3.00 3.01 3.02 3.03 3.04 3.05 3.06 3.07 3.08 3.09 3.10 In D-A-C starship names are selected and allocated at random. The game features eleven Romulan starship names which are assigned randomly to all classes of ships in the game. All Cetratus-class names from D-A-C are therefore also known as the names of vessels of the four other Romulan classes in the game.
