In an alternate reality, Reep Daggle was a Durlan of the 30th century who was commonly known as Chameleon Boy (or Cham) during his membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes.

History

In the Legion's reality, his homeworld of Durla was a member of the United Planets, an interplanetary organization centered on Earth. Daggle, possessed of natural shapeshifting capability of his race, was able to prove himself a hero and was sponsored into a hero club, the Legion. The Legion grew into a large organization of powerful youths with non-Human abilities.

While time traveling with fellow Legionnaires Imra Ardeen, Garth Ranzz, Rokk Krinn, Querl Dox and Tasmia Mallor, Daggle's time bubble was destroyed by a time distortion. The party of Legionnaires, who had been trying to return to the late 30th century, found themselves on Earth in the 23rd century of another reality where an Imperial Planets organization ruled Earth.

When the Legionnaires ventured out from their wrecked vehicle, they were encountered by a mob of panicked onlookers who recognized Cham as a Durlan, and began to attack. When Tasmia asked Cham why the Humans would react to a Durlan in that earlier era, he pointed out that there had been some contact between Humans and Durlans in the 20th century, but nothing to justify a backlash of fear and hatred as they were witnessing. The contact between Durlans and Humans was depicted in comics such as the Invasion! miniseries, where the Durlans helped in a brief alien infiltration of Earth, and other Superboy comics where the Legion and Cham himself visited the 20th century. In both cases, the general public was not completely aware that a race of shapeshifters had been in their midst.

The Legionnaires escaped the mob using their flight rings, leading Cham to appreciate that the technology had not failed during their crash. Cham remembered a recent occasion where they weren't so fortunate, as the rings had been knocked out of commission. (TOS - Legion of Super-Heroes comic: "Issue 2")
