Chandigarh was a city in the Punjab region of northern India on Earth. It served as the main base of operations of Khan Noonien Singh during the late 20th century.
Following the death of his mother, Doctor Sarina Kaur on May 18, 1974, Khan was adopted by his relatives Prahbot and Sharan Singh, who lived in Chandigarh. (TOS novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1)
On January 10, 1996, Khan's palace-fortress in Chandigarh was attacked and destroyed on the orders of United States President Bill Clinton. The strike was covered up as an attack against a terrorist base. However, Khan and over eighty of his followers had already escaped on the SS Botany Bay by the time the attack took place. (TOS novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 2)
In the 23rd century, the former site of Khan's fortress was a landing platform with nothing to mark it as the former seat of the Augment's power. When exiled to Ceti Alpha V, Khan named his colony as "New Chandigarh" only for the settlement to be destroyed by the cataclysm caused by Ceti Alpha VI's destruction. (TOS novel: To Reign in Hell: The Exile of Khan Noonien Singh)
