In the Kelvin timeline, Chang was a 23rd century Klingon man who was a warrior of the Klingon Empire.

Biography[]

Chang served the Klingon Defense Force. He held the rank of general by the year 2262. He also commanded the Bird of Prey, IKS Muqtovor.

Following Captain James T. Kirk's excursion to Qo'noS in 2259, Chang spent months without cease hunting him down. In 2262, Chang caught up with Kirk in the vicinity of Nodell 16. Chang was then chosen by a Yellow Lantern power ring that had crossed over from yet another alternate reality. After failing to the destroy the USS Enterprise, defended by Hal Jordan and Pavel Chekov's own rings, Chang retreated to Qo'noS where he slew the Klingon High Council and crowed himself as the new Emperor of the Klingon Empire before he was approached by Thaal Sinestro. When news broke of an attack on Starbase 12, Chang and Sinestro led a fleet of ships to the four-way battle with the other Lantern factions. (TOS - The Spectrum War comic: "Issue 5")

When Spock summoned the Life Entity, Chang's ring was summoned to Spock, leaving an unprotected Chang to perish in the vacuum of space. (TOS - The Spectrum War comic: "Issue 6")
