Chantil was a large city on Tristas built out of components synthesized from the thick layer of moss blanketing the planet's surface.

History[]

In the 23rd century, when Tristians began a self-imposed isolation from the galaxy, Chantil fell under the leadership of the Tristian Science Ministry. Science Lord Minister Tonar was based out of the city, and The Eye was built there. Just outside the city, a large device resembling a power generator operated atop the moss.

In 2266, a landing party from the Galileo was taken to Chantil and forced to harvest the moss for an undisclosed purpose related to The Presence. Galileo was stored in the city until Starfleet Admiral Tailen Kahn escaped from his bonds and sought it. Commander Spock landed a starscout near the city and was able to rescue the lost personnel.
