Chaotica Kill Proton

Doctor Chaotica.

Doctor Chaotica was a fictional character from Earth literature, the evil nemesis of Captain Proton. He served as the primary villain of the 20th century Earth science fiction series The Adventures of Captain Proton.

Fictional biography[]

He was an insane megalomaniac and an evil genius who often tried to take over the Earth using nefarious schemes. (Star Trek: The Magazine vol. 2, Issue 11: "Briefing: Captain Proton")

He styled himself as "ruler of the cosmos". His minions included henchmen Lonzak and Satan's Robot. His central base was the Fortress of Doom on Planet X. His weapons included a death ray weapon of mass destruction and a brain probe torture device. (VOY episode: "Bride of Chaotica!")

He constructed a powerful Blaster Ship, but Captain Proton was able to set off a chain reaction to destroy the vessel. In revenge, Chaotica fired the ship's weapon such that it propelled a giant red star towards Earth. (VOY - Amazing Stories short story: "The Space Vortex of Doom")

He then used Mind-Sucker Ants to take control of many Incorporated Planets Patrol spacecraft and send them to an asteroid field. Captain Proton marshaled a fleet of Ant warships to rescue the fleet while he tracked Chaotica's vessel. Chaotica directed his spaceship into a comet's tail. He laughed maniacally as Captain Proton's rocket ship lost control amid cometary debris. (ST - Captain Proton: Defender of the Earth short story: "Death of the Patrol")

He captured Proton and Buster Kincaid in the Soltair system. Despite vowing not to monologue, he began bragging about plans to construct a mind-control weapon. Eventually the duo escaped from his grasp and caused heavy damage to Chaotica's ship. (VOY - Strange New Worlds V short story: "The Difficulties of Being Evil")

Later, with that mind-control device, Chaotica took control of Kincaid and commanded him to kill Proton. The plan nearly worked, but Proton was able to snap him out of it. (VOY - Explorer short story: "Kill Captain Proton!")

Queen Arachnia sent Chaotica a vial of her pheromones. When he opened it, it altered him such that any time he was exposed to it, he fell under her control. (VOY episode: "Bride of Chaotica!")

One villain claimed to be his son. Chaotica later sought revenge on Proton and his friends, causing mayhem with a commandeered Incorporated Planets warship. He tried to kill Kincaid with a mind melding machine. At one point, a malfunctioning time machine made it possible for three Chaoticas to exist at one time. In a final showdown, Proton and Chaotica fought on a doomed asteroid. (VOY video game: Elite Force)

Chaotica saw Proton appear to fall into a volcano. Chaotica captured Captain Proton's rocket ship, Kincaid, and Constance Goodheart, then demanded that Earth surrender. Any opposition would be sent to the Mines of Mercury. But Proton arrived to save the day. (VOY episode: "Night")

Alternate timelines[]

In an alternate timeline, Chaotica as he appeared on the holodeck in 2377 was pulled into the temporal anomaly crisis. Chaotica was skilled in the fields of command and science. Among the equipment he brought to bear in away team missions were his clothing, a graviton emitter, laser scalpel, ray gun, tricorder, a star chart, and a holonovel called Spell of the Spider. (ST video game: Timelines)

History and specifics[]

In the 1938 radio adaptation, he was played by Boris Karnov. (DS9 - Strange New Worlds IV short story: "Captain Proton and the Orb of Bajor")

In the year 2375, Harry Kim and Tom Paris roleplayed Captain Proton episode: "Satan's Robot Conquers the World" on USS Voyager's holodeck. When The Doctor interrupted the simulation, Chaotica asked, "Who is this insolent fool?" and ordered Satan's Robot to kill them all. The EMH then deactivated the program. (VOY episode: "Night")

Later that year, Kim and Paris reenacted episode 18, "Bride of Chaotica". Soon, however, real-world photonic aliens began interacting with the holodeck characters. Chaotica attacked and killed several of them, believing that they were invaders from the "Fifth Dimension". (VOY episode: "Bride of Chaotica!")

In 2377, the hologram of Chaotica captured Kathryn Janeway as she was portraying Arachnia. At one point, he strapped her onto his torture table, but she got him to let her go, warning of a threat from the eighth dimension. (VOY episode: "Shattered")
