Lieutenant Charles H. Logan was one of four chief engineers to serve aboard the USS Enterprise-D in 2364.
Biography[]
He was preceded by Michael Argyle and succeeded by Leland T. Lynch. His brief tenure was marred by an antagonistic relationship with conn officer Geordi La Forge, who would ironically become chief engineer of the vessel himself in 2365. The two disagreed over who should be in command of the Enterprise during a combat situation. When La Forge decided to separate the saucer, Logan was placed in command of the saucer section. (TNG episode: "The Arsenal of Freedom")
Logan would later become the chief engineer of another Galaxy-class starship, the USS Venture. In 2368 Logan discovered a baffle plate malfunction on board the Venture, the ship subsequently docked at Luxor IV for repairs. (TNG novel: The Devil's Heart)
Logan went on to be chief engineer of the USS Bradbury. In 2371, he was murdered by Tana Santu, a mentally disturbed woman from Zorta who was systematically eliminating all former Enterprise-D chief engineers. (TNG comic: "Suspect")
