Chee Wee Chua was a human male in Starfleet in the 23rd century. A Lieutenant, he was called Chewy by his friends.
Biography[]
As of 2246, he was the chief engineer of the USS Aldrin. When Lieutenant Commander Christopher Pike came on board the Aldrin as temporary first officer during a period of increased tension between the United Federation of Planets and the Vestians, Chua and Pike quickly became friends. Pike's father Chief Charlie Pike was also on board, and as Captain Kamnach had forbidden father and son to directly communicate with each other, Chua acted as a go-between.
Pike soon became concerned that Captain Kamnach was acting in a reckless manner. Pike discussed the matter with several other senior officers, and Chua was one of the few officers who immediately offered unqualified support if Pike saw it necessary to take action against Kamnach.
Chua died when Kamnach launched an unprovoked attack against a Vestian cruiser, which had responded by returning fire which hit the engineering section. (TOS novel: Burning Dreams)
