Chesley Bonestell (1 January 188811 June 1986) was an artist and painter of science fiction themes. The USS Bonestell and the Bonestell Recreation Facility at Starbase Earhart were named for him.

In 2364, Bonestell paintings appeared on the walls of William Riker's room on Farpoint Station when he commented that he preferred images of space to the paintings that had been there before. (TNG novelization: Encounter at Farpoint)
