Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Chimera Pi was allegedly a planet discovered by Ferengi explorer "Mad Zook" in Ferengi year 17231. Chimera Pi was reported to have massive deposits of latinum, and billions of Ferengi were inspired to leave Ferenginar in pursuit of profit. "Gone to Chimera" was a common message seen on abandoned Ferengi homes at the time.

It was later discovered that the reports about Chimera Pi had originated with the Ferengi Office of Population Control, during the Overpopulation Crisis of 17231. Whether or not Chimera Pi actually exists remains unknown to the present day.

Upon the death of his father Keldar, Quark imagined that he might have left a map to the secret lost latinum mine of Chimera Pi in his legacy chest. (DS9 novel: Legends of the Ferengi)
