The p'i p'a is an ancient Terran stringed musical instrument, also known as the Chinese lute. In the 24th century it was undergoing a revival in usage.

History and specifics[]

Harry Kim's mother was a professional musician well versed in this instrument. Harry himself had an innate affinity for it, but took up the clarinet because he found it more challenging. (VOY novel: Pathways)
