Chlorobicrobes were a chemical component of agricultural sprays that were used to increase the size of a crop.

Thaddeus Kent once commented that he foresaw long term problems with soil fertility when sprays like those that contained chlorobicrobes were used. (TOS novel: Inception)

Kira Taban used chlorobicrobes to make his katterpods larger, a fact that Kira Nerys mentioned to Mullibok. (DS9 episode: "Progress")
