A chroniton torpedo launcher was a kinetic weapon technology, a projectile weapon launcher on installed on starships and spaceborne-installations like starbases and other space stations. Such launcher fired a chroniton projectile at a target, dealing a heavy amount of kinetic damage. This damage output was reduced by the target's deflector shields. As a torpedo launcher, it had a 90° firing arc. Compared to other projectile weapon launcher types, chroniton space weapons had a one-in-three chance of to impede a target's flight speed and turn rate. History and specifics

In the 24th century, Krenim starships were equipped with chroniton torpedo launchers. Chroniton torpedoes could bypass 2370s-era Starfleet deflector shields. (VOY episode: "Before and After")

In an alternate timeline, the Federation starship USS Voyager became impervious to chroniton torpedo damage after its crew developed temporal shielding in the year 2374. (VOY episode: "Year of Hell")

Visually, chroniton torpedoes appeared in the 2400s and 2410s decades of the 25th century as multi-colored balls of light and could display a comet-like trail. They were available with different ratings of advancement, ranging from mark I to mark XV, plus unrated variants. These torpedo launchers could be modified by personnel to improve accuracy, critical severity, critical chance and damage output. Aboard starships, chroniton torpedo launchers could be slotted in fore and aft emplacements. In contrast, a chroniton mine launcher could only be placed in an aft slot. In the 29th and 31st centuries, mark X-rated chroniton torpedo launchers were standard equipment aboard Federation timeship classes, like the Wells- and Eternal-class science vessels.
