The Citadel class were a type of dreadnought developed by the Voth species who used them by the late 24th century. These starships were rarely seen but quite able to hold off small fleets of other vessels. This was achieved by their use of the highly advanced Voth technology such as gravity wells, tractor beams, and several aceton drones. Though slow moving, they made use of wide angle torpedo deployment system that allowed them to launch Transphasic Chroniton weapons in any direction. This same system was also able to deploy seeking charges designed to home in on stationary targets.[1] (STO website: Designing the Voth Space Combat Experience)

The Citadel-class dreadnought was arrow-shaped but smaller than a Voth City Ship. (VOY novel: Acts of Contrition)

History[]

24th century[]

In February 2382, a Citadel-class dreadnought arrived at the Gateway to the First World to assist the Kinara alliance in battle against the Confederacy Interstellar Fleet. Captain Regina Farkas of the USS Vesta considered to fire a transphasic torpedo at the Voth starship. However, she did not have to make the choice when a cease-fire was agreed upon between the opposing forces. (VOY novel: Acts of Contrition)

25th century[]

In late 2409, a Citadel-class dreadnought came under attack by alien forces in the Delta Quadrant. Doctor Nelen Exil shared footage of the event with an officer of Dyson Joint Command. (STO mission: "Unsafe Practices")

Exil shared also shared the audiovisual record of another attack on a Voth dreadnought. (STO mission: "Unsavory Actions")

A Voth dreadnought arrived late when Alpha Quadrant Alliance captured a spire in the Solanae Dyson sphere from the Voth. (STO mission: "Storming the Spire")

In December of 2409, a Citadel-class dreadnought traveled through an Iconian gateway leading from the Solanae sphere to the Jenolan sphere, deeper in the Delta Quadrant. The dreadnought was destroyed by an Undine assault force. (STO mission: "A Step Between Stars")

In early 2410, an unnamed dreadnought participated in a four-way battle against five Alpha Quadrant Alliance starships and two enemy dreadnoughts, the Borg Queen's octahedron and an Undine Tethys-class dreadnought. The AQA joined forces with the Borg Cooperative to liberate Borg from a unimatrix while it was under assault from the Voth and Undine. The Voth dreadnought was destroyed in the battle. (STO mission: "Borg Disconnected")

Assimilated Citadel

Assimilated Citadel.

In the same year, the Turei homeworld came under attack by the Vaadwaur Supremacy. The Voth, allies of the Turei, were unable to defend the planet on their own. When the planetary defense grid was sabotaged by the Vaadwaur, debris from destroyed Voth dreadnoughts threatened the biosphere. An AQA starship arrived to provide aid and helped turn the tide of the battle. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Revelations")
