Claire was a female human Starfleet officer in the 23rd century. She served aboard the USS Enterprise as a public relations officer.

In 2268, she accompanied James T. Kirk, Spock, Leonard McCoy and Pavel Chekov on a diplomatic mission to Tarsus II. While returning to the Enterprise on the Galileo, the shuttlecraft was hit by a meteor storm and crashed onto a planet.

After the shuttle's radio was seized by the Inquisitors, Claire accompanied Spock and Chekov on the mission to recover it from the Inquisitors' castle while Kirk and McCoy made contact with the rebels. The three were captured and brought before the Grand Inquisitor, who declared that they were minions of the Dark One and had them taken to the interrogation chambers. Spock resisted being tortured, but agreed to talk when the Grand Inquisitor threatened to torture Claire instead. The captured officers were freed by Kirk and the rebels, and all were beamed to the Enterprise after Spock repaired the radio. (TOS comic: "Day of the Inquisitors")
