The class MZ planet is, in planetary classification, similar to class M planet, but with its resources depleted, leaving it a desert.

History and specifics[]

In the year 2267, Heitius VII was classified as a class MZ planet. (TOS comic: "The Mummies of Heitius VII")

The Gold Key Comics story that originated this classification was released many years prior to the first licensed attempts to flesh out the planetary classification system, so it does not match the methodology used to classify planets either in ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation or ST reference: Star Charts, both of which had specific referents to refer to desert planets.
