Baldric

A baldric or sash was a wide ornamental belt worn over one shoulder and around the waist.

Worf wore a baldric in top of his Starfleet uniform as a symbol of his Klingon heritage. In 2369 Worf's baldric was useful in locating him when he was involved in a shuttlecraft accident. The unique metals used in it's construction allowed it be more detectable in sensor scans. (TNG comic: "Light of the Day")

Beret

A Beret was a sort of cloth,felt or leather hat.

In 1974, Roberta Lincoln wore a black beret in Germany. (TOS novel: The Rise and Fall of Khan Noonien Singh, Volume 1)

Body armor

Vulcan body armor

Body armor was a type of clothing worn to protect the wearing from dangers such as assault.

The Vulcans of Darien 224 possessed body armor which could withstand laser pistol fire, but it was less effective in resisting fire from a phaser rifle. (EV comic: "Cloak and Dagger")

The USS Enterprise NCC-1701 personnel had body armor that zipped itself up, leaving no seam. This armor was like silk, but an impact would render it rigid. (TOS novel: Planet of Judgment).

Boot

Boots were a common type of footwear for many cultures in 2276. (TOS novel: The Romulan Way)

Brassiere

The brassiere was a Human article of clothing that covered, supported, and elevated the breasts.

Despite the recent deaths of her crewmates, Katalya Tremain repeatedly removed her uniform in front of Spock while on the planet Arachnae. She then chastised Spock for noticing the transparent nature of this garment. (TOS novel: Vulcan!)

Earring

An earring was a piece of jewellery worn on the ear. Most Bajorans wore an earring as a symbol of their faith.

Bajorans who had been attained were not permitted to wear their earring.

Ro Laren wore a Bajoran earring to symbolise her pride in being Bajoran. However she did not follow the Bajoran faith so wore the earring on the wrong ear to discourage vedeks trying to feel her pagh, which was normally done by squeezing the left ear. (DS9 novel: Avatar)

Emergency transporter suit

An emergency transporter suit was a garment worn by test pilots which served as a homing device and transporter pattern enhancer. The bulky, mesh-line jumpsuit allowed for the emergency beam-out of a person from an endangered vehicle, a function similar to that of ejection seats in some 20th century aircraft. Environmental suit

An Environmental suit or EV suit is a specialised type of clothing used to project the wearer from hazards and maintain life-support in inhospitable environments.

EV suits can be used for a variety of tasks; for extravehicular activities, to explore a non-class M environments (or dependent on your species whatever environments might usually cause you harm) or to work in hazardous areas protected from various forms of chemicals and radiations.

There are a number of specialised EV suits, with magnetic boots to walk on the hull of a starship or a small propulsion unit to allow independent travel a short distance into open space. Anthropological isolation suits seem to stem from EV suit technologies sealing a researcher off from their unsuspecting study subjects.

History of EV suits

22nd century

EV suits used by Earth Starfleet in the 22nd century were a bronze colour utilising a soft body suit with more solid components where necessary. These EV suits had magnetic boots and had various safety measures such as the ability to share an oxygen supply if one's was damaged or lost.

The suits were generally emblazoned with the mission patch of the starship they were assigned to and key crew members had there own tailored suits whilst over personal utilised shared suits. MACOs also had there own style of suit presumably designed to be more effective in combat situations.

23rd century

By the 2250s Federation Starfleet used an orange EV suit with more generally more flexible components than there 22nd century predecessors.

By the 2260s Starfleet began to use new Silver suits which consisted of mostly of a flexible form fitting body suit with a tall helmet. Later in the decade Starfleet began to use Life support belts, a type of personal force field, however these seemed to have been phased out in later years as Starfleet returned to more solid suit designs. 24th century

By the 24th century Starfleet was using a white EV suit with a body suit and solid components which were of form fitting design to fit the user to without restrictions of movement and vision.

Kira wears an environmental suit.

The engineering crew of Deep Space 9 would wear environmental suits when conducting repairs on the station's exterior. (DS9 reference: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual)

In 2373, Elim Garak wore an environmental suit when he beamed onto Empok Nor. (DS9 episode: "Empok Nor")

Benjamin Sisko, Kira Nerys and Worf wore environmental suits in 2374 when they beamed down to Jeraddo. They later wore them again when the artificial gravity and life support in parts of Deep Space 9 was interrupted by Obanak Keelen's inhabitation by the Pah-wraiths. (DS9 video game: The Fallen)

Flat hat

A flat hat was a popular Human male felt hat, usually dark in color, worn from the late 1800s until at least 2008. This was a sort of "cowboy hat".

A frock coat was a popular Human male garment in the late 1800s on Earth.

G-string

G-strings were a revealing bit of a garment invented by Humans for various reasons.

The Deltan Duo wore a matching set of G-strings displaying the Starfleet symbol for their erotic performance at the Flag and Grog. (TOS novel: The Fearful Summons)

Handkerchief

A handkerchief was a bit of cloth used to wipe mucus. In 2268, Leonard McCoy suggested that Katalya Tremain find one. (TOS novel: Vulcan!)

Hover suit

A hover suit is an item of clothing which was worn by a participant in the game of hoverball. The suit was fitted with artificial gravity controls which would allow the wearer to play in a zero-g environment. (VOY short story: "Winds of Change")

Isolation suit

An Isolation suit is a type of highly technological type of clothing used by the Federation on pre-warp cultural observation or 'duck blind' missions. They are equipped with a basic Cloaking device which makes the user invisible to natives so not to contaminate there culture but are quite visible with properly configured sensor equipment which the base of operations for the mission will generally utilise to keep tabs on there personal in the field. (TNG movie: Insurrection; DS9 novel: "Lesser Evil")

The Star Trek: Fact Files state that isolation suits use holographic technology rather than a cloaking device to achieve their invisibility.

When visible the suits are a red colour and look somewhat like EV suits. This is no coincidence as the suits are sealed well enough to block out the noise of operatives in communications with the mission base from close by natives.

In 2376, the Trill Hiziki Gard used an isolation suit to evade capture after he assassinated the Bajoran First Minister, Shakaar Edon, on Deep Space 9. The ploy was successful for some time but he was eventually tracked down by lieutenant Ro Laren and Taran'atar hiding in a small crawlspace above Ops. (DS9 novel: Lesser Evil)

Gard's isolation suit was later discovered to have originated from the USS Kelly, a ship which was destroyed at the Battle of Rigel. It was believed the suit was one of many items the Orion Syndicate had salvaged from the battle site. Bera chim Gleer later brought up the issue of the isolation suit in a session of the Federation Council. (DS9 novel: Trill: Unjoined)

Kilt

A kilt is a sort of human garment resembling a skirt. Many human cultures embraced this garment, including the Scottish, Irish, Romans, and Greeks.

In 2267, James T. Kirk, Spock, and Grang of the Wolf clan were forced to wear kilts as part of the Code Duello of Bavarya. (TOS novel: Mission to Horatius)

Overcoat

An Overcoat was a sort of outerwear which covered and protected a person from the elements.

A robe was a sort of garment which was loose fitting and tended to have sleeves.

In 2267, most of the people on Ceres wore robes. (TOS novelization: Friday's Child)

Singlet

A singlet was a one-piece collarless garment, also known as vest. This was a common bit of clothing for Romulan servants in 2276. (TOS novel: The Romulan Way)

String tie

A string tie was a popular Human male garment in the late 1800s on Earth.

T-shirt

A T-shirt was a type of clothing, typically a short sleeved, buttonless, collarless garment which is pulled over the wearers head to cover their torso. Many T-shirt's sported designs or slogans, making the simple item of clothing an ideal way to display the wearers personal tastes.

In 2370 Garak sold "I Saw The Prodigal" T-shirts from his shop on Deep Space 9, as souvenirs for the Illumination of The Prodigal which was drawing visitors to the station. (DS9 novel: Devil in the Sky)

Department of Temporal Investigations agent Lucsly wore a "DeathTongue" T-shirt for a planned covert mission to the 20th century. (VOY short story: Almost... But Not Quite)
