The Codex Orion was a compendium of the laws and organization of Orion society and the Orion Colonies.
History[]
In April, 61 BCE (reference stardate −20/6104), with the end of the Orion War on the horizon, the Botchok Planetary Congress (BPC) began discussing the shape and structure of the society that they would adopt afterwards. Tamos Draman the Half-Sighted, a Grey Orion, argued eloquently for a hierarchy that placed his Grey Orions a little above the Ruddy Orions. This was rejected, and the BPC chose to give Greys and Ruddies equal rights, and kept the Green Orions at the bottom.
The Codex Orion was eventually published. After the end of the War and the Declaration of Nallin on February 13th, 56 BC (reference stardate −20/5602.13), Orion society experienced the century-long Era of Lawbringing, in which they developed the customs, rules, regulations and laws that managed their newly free people. Among other things, these guaranteed the rights of slaves and the responsibilities of their masters.
However, the conflict between the Ruddies and the Greys grew until the latter were kicked from power in the Dispossession. In May 1220 CE (stardate −8/205), BPC and Colonial representatives (all Ruddy Orions) met on Kammzdast in a special meeting to officially revise the Codex Orion. All mention of the Grey Orions was erased from the Codex. (FASA RPG module: The Orions: Book of Deep Knowledge)
