The Coit Tower was a landmark on Earth, sitting atop Telegraph Hill in San Francisco, named after Lillie Hitchcock Coit who bequeathed one-third of her estate to the city to be used to beautify it. The tower stood two hundred and ten feet (sixty four meters) high.

The tower was destroyed during World War III; the World War III Memorial was built on its former location after the conclusion of the conflict. (TNG novel: A Time for War, A Time for Peace)
