A cold war is a period of extended tension between opposing factions in which no actual direct combat occurs between the two parties.
- Earth Cold War - A protracted period of high tension between a number of nation states on Earth following the Second World War.
- Temporal Cold War - A protracted struggle between a number of time traveling factions, which had effects from the 20th through to the 31st century.
- Typhon Pact - The tense political relationship between the newly established Typhon Pact and the United Federation of Planets and its Khitomer Accords allies was often described as a 'Cold War'.
