Coleslaw is a type of food, a salad made by Humans from Earth cabbage.

Nyota Uhura, Pavel Chekov and Hikaru Sulu, who were being hunted by assassins, stowed away aboard the partially-disassembled USS Enterprise and tried to coax edible food out of an unfinished food synthesizer. The confused machine managed to provide a bowl of coleslaw, although Chekov was the only one of the trio to find it palatable. (TOS novel: Traitor Winds)

Although ordinary Earth cabbage is an ingredient in Earth coleslaw, it is unknown if this is a universal trait, as there are also known to be alien forms of cabbage.
