"Coliseum" is a mission in Star Trek Online. It is the fourth mission of the "Cloaked Intentions" episode series, which was later incorporated into the Federation and Klingon Empire "Romulan Mystery" episode and the Romulan Republic "Freedom" episode.
Description[]
Federation[]
- My contacts tell me that Starfleet has rejected my request for military assistance. That is regrettable, but not unexpected. The Tal Shiar are formidable opponents, as are the forces directing their action. I understand why the Federation would hesitate to engage them directly. So today I appeal to you, not as an ally in battle, but as a person of compassion. My people need your help. I need your help. One of our ships was carrying a load of thalaron weapons through the Nopada system. That ship has disappeared. There are no indications that there was a battle. It is as if my ship and its cargo simply... vanished. I know you have your reservations about the lengths to which I will go to secure the freedom of my people. Tell me - if you do not trust me with thalaron weapons, do you want Hakeev to have them? I can provide you with the last coordinates of the vessel. Please ... help me. Do what you will with the weapons if they survive, but find my people!
Klingon Empire[]
- My contacts tell me that the Empire has rejected my request for military assistance. That is regrettable, but not unexpected. The Tal Shiar are formidable opponents, as are the forces directing their action. I understand if the High Council is reluctant to engage in a battle that is not theirs. So today I appeal to you, not as a comrade in warfare, but as an honorable warrior. Tell me – if you do not trust me with thalaron weapons, do you want Hakeev to have them? I can provide you with the last coordinates of the vessel. Please ... help me. Do what you will with the weapons if they survive, but find my people!
Romulan Republic (Federation aligned)[]
- My contacts tell me that Starfleet has rejected my request for military assistance. That is regrettable, but not unexpected. The Tal Shiar are formidable opponents, as are the forces directing their action. I understand why the Federation would hesitate to engage them directly. So today I appeal to you, not as an ally in battle, but as a fellow survivor of the persecution of the Tal Shiar. My people need your help. I need your help. One of our ships was carrying a load of thalaron weapons through the Nopada system. That ship has disappeared. There are no indications that there was a battle. It is as if my ship and its cargo simply... vanished. If you are reluctant to become involved, consider this: What will happen if these weapons fall into Hakeev's hands? I can provide you with the last coordinates of the vessel. Please ... help me. Do what you will with the weapons if they survive, but find my people!
Summary[]
The player travels to the Nopada system and scans the wreckage of several starships, learning in the process that they were destroyed by an energy beam emanating from a nearby satellite. The player scans the satellite, but the station launches the beam at his/her ship. He/she beams over to the station and disables the satellite before beaming back to his/her ship.
The player finds himself/herself in a cage on the surface of a planet close to the satellite. He/she picks a bat'leth and enters an arena, where he/she fights a series of creatures alongside a Reman warrior.
When all creatures have been defeated, the player returns to his/her cage and meets the Reman, whose name is Slamek. He tells the player how to get out of the structure, but the two are soon called to reenter the arena. When they enter, they fight several large aehallh worms. The player uses lasers situated around the arena to attack the Aelallh, and Slamek releases the other prisoners using a stolen card key. The worms eventually retreat, destroying the arena wall in its path. Slamek and the player escape through the breach and leave the arena, crossing the desert while frequently hiding from fighter ships searching the desert for the escaped prisoners.
The player and Slamek reach the wreckage of the Remans’ ship the next morning and use components from the hulk to construct an emergency signal that can contact the player’s ship. However, a contingent of Romulan soldiers led by Colonel Hakeev surrounds the ship. Slamek joins the Romulans, and Hakeev reveals that the Reman was a spy. He explains that the Iconians will be pleased at all he has done for them and orders his soldiers to destroy the player, but the player is beamed out by his/her crew.
