The Collector's museum was a landmark on Beton III. It was a private museum of antique spacecraft, aircraft and groundcars overseen by the Collector.

History and specifics[]

The fortified installation was at least 300 years old, featuring many vehicles that were stolen from Earth during actual use in the 20th century. Vehicle exhibits were maintained in a fully fueled and flight-ready condition, and were accompanied by operational humanoid androids adorned as pilots. Additionally, the facility housed a hangar bay for at least five automated flying saucers, vessels used to acquire exhibits. The compound was maintained by robot servants.

In 2267, a flying saucer hijacked a manned G-50X rocket plane in Earth orbit, but the saucer was disabled at the edge of the Beton system by the starship USS Enterprise. The Collector invited the crew of NCC-1701/8 to land near the museum, then had the shuttlecraft shot down with a cannon, and it crashed into the top of a museum hangar.

The Collector attempted to capture the Enterprise for his museum, but he was unable to trick the ship's crew into landing the starship. When he fired a rocket at escaping crew, he inadvertently blew up a wing of his museum, destroying many priceless exhibits. (TOS comic: "The Collector")
