The command module was the section of a spaceship in use in the 20th and early 21st centuries which contained the primary cockpit and control area. (VOY episode: "One Small Step"; TOS novels: Prime Directive, Captain's Blood)

In the 23rd century, the command module referred to the area of a Federation starship's bridge which contained the helm, navigation console, astrogator, chronometer, and command chair.
