A comp-ox capsule was a type of Federation technology delivered in pill form in the 23rd century.

Specifics[edit | edit source]

The capsule was a miniature method for delivering compressed oxygen. When ingested, one capsule was able to provide breathable oxygen to submerged humanoids for 24 hours.

Uses[edit | edit source]

In 2266, Urey University assistant professor Barbara McCoy used comp-ox capsules while training underwater for three weeks in preparation for a research mission to study mutated humanoid Bwujans who lived underwater in the oceans of the planet Bwuja.

After her training, McCoy joined James T. Kirk, Leonard McCoy, and Spock on the surface of Bwuja. They brought several comp-ox capsules with them, and each swallowed one before diving into the sea to seek out Bwujans. (TOS comic: "The World Beneath the Waves")
