"Consider Eternity" is a TOS/TNG comic published in the 2018 Waypoint Special from IDW Publishing. The story features an encounter between Q and the Willard Decker/Ilia probe/V'Ger cosmic entity.

Summary[]

Seconds after Will Decker, Ilia, and V'Ger fused into a new cosmic entity, it is called into the Q Continuum. Q welcomes it to omnipotence. When it asks its purpose, and what should it do next, Q says options are limitless, yet one must be careful not to destroy reality.

Q distills Decker out of the entity to let him reconsider being part of the merged entity. Q shows him a metaphor of the multiverse as well as an interstellar nursery. Q then takes Decker to witness a battle between the USS Newton, an unnamed Miranda-class starship, and three Romulan Vas Hatham-class birds-of-prey. The Newton faces a warp core breach. Q imbues Decker with the ability to interfere in the outcome, including rescuing the crew, but points out potential consequences to the timeline should he interfere.

Decker wonders if he deserves to have such options, when the merged entity calls him back in the form of Ilia. He thanks Q as he rejoins the entity, which now seems to understand its purpose in the cosmos. Q allows it to depart the Continuum.

Time passes, and a bored Q suspects another eon will pass before he finds something entertaining to do. Inspired by lessons he might have taught Decker, he notices the USS Enterprise-D en route to Farpoint Station, dons judges robes, and prepares for his next encounter with humanity.

Our destination is planet Deneb IV, beyond which lies the great unexplored mass of the galaxy...
