Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

A console was a device to access technology aboard a starship and other facilities. (VOY episode: "State of Flux")

History and specifics[]

Various stations aboard a starship were fitted with a console for bridge officers and other personnel to operate. (ENT episode & novelization: Broken Bow)

In the year 2371, the Kazon tried to install a console with Federation technology aboard a Kazon-Nistrim vessel. Their lack of familiarity with the advanced Starfleet technology led to the death of the entire crew. The console technology had been given to the Kazon by Seska, who was revealed to be a Cardassian spy due to the fallout. (VOY episode: "State of Flux")

In the 2400s and 2410s decades, consoles were common aboard state-of-the-art starships of the Khitomer Alliance and its member states' military forces. Consoles themselves were a technology that improved the performance of various ship systems. Standard consoles were divided into engineering, tactical and science consoles. Some specialized consoles, called universal console, enabled the activation of special weapons. (STO - Klingon War missions: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", "The Hunt is On", "Explore the Flotilla", "Ceremony")
