Constance Barnes was a female Human and a Counselor in Starfleet in the 2360s and 2370s.

Biography[]

In 2366, when she was a trainee counselor, Barnes was assigned to the USS Saratoga. Just a short time later, the Saratoga engaged the Borg at Wolf 359. Although she did not meet many of the Saratoga crew, she became attracted to Benjamin Sisko.

After the Saratoga had been damaged by the Borg cube in the battle, Barnes discovered Jennifer Sisko, who had been crushed by falling debris but was still alive. Conflicted by her feelings for Sisko and her terror of the moment that she experienced, Barnes did not help Jennifer.

Barnes was later assigned to the USS Endeavour as its counselor. In 2372, the Endeavour brought her to Deep Space 9, from where Captain Sisko would take her and other Saratoga survivors to Mars aboard the USS Defiant. After the Defiant was damaged, Barnes told Sisko the truth about what she had done. Sisko was angry, but saw she had suffered for many years over it, and forgave her. After the Defiant returned to DS9, Barnes did not travel with them to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards for the launch ceremony of the USS Saratoga. (DS9 novel: Saratoga)
