The Copernicus was a Federation two-man shuttlecraft in service to Starfleet in the 23rd century. The shuttle was assigned to the Federation starship USS Enterprise in the late 2270s.
This particular craft was modified from the standard design, having two extremely large sensor dishes added to the starboard side.
Service history[]
In 2279, Captain Spock and Lt. Cmdr. Singh launched Copernicus to investigate a space buoy located near the rings of a planet in the Fortenue system. During the mission, Copernicus was disabled by an asteroid impact, then plummeted without power. It crashed on the planet's surface, killing Singh and leaving Spock with amnesia. (TOS comic: "Goodbye to Spock")
