Copper (symbol Cu) is a chemical element, a transition metal with atomic number 29 on the periodic table.

Characteristics and history[]

Copper has an atomic mass of 63.546. This element was discovered by Humans in Earth's ancient history. (ST reference: Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual)

The Vulcans and the Romulans are among two species that have copper-based blood, which causes their blood to take on a green color. (TOS episode: "The Man Trap")

When combined with sulfur to form copper sulfate it becomes a highly poisonous powder. When the copper sulfate is mixed with water, the copper sulfate forms into blue crystals, yet still has poisonous properties. (TOS novelization: The Naked Time)

The ring system of Numero Uno was composed of copper. (TOS comic: "The Ghost Planet")
