Cosmozoans, the name used to describe the different type of interstellar dwelling species, that most of their lives live in the vacuum of space. They can be both sentient species as well as non-sentient animals or plants. (TTN novel: Orion's Hounds)
Known species
- Several species were found by the USS Intrepid in the 23rd century in its survey of the Scorpius-Centaurus Association. The starship was ultimately destroyed by an extradimensional space amoeba. (Titan novel: Orion's Hounds TOS episode: "The Immunity Syndrome")
- "Junior" was the unofficial name for the lifeform the USS Enterprise-D encountered en-route to Doctor Leah Brahms' scheduled stop at the Guemica outpost. The entity had been born motherless in the Alpha Omicron system in 2367 and mistook the energy signature of the Galaxy-class starship as a feeding source. (TNG episode: "Galaxy's Child")
- Unknown species around the Orion Association. (Titan novel: Orion's Hounds)
- Unknown species around the Taurus Dark Cloud. (Titan novel: Orion's Hounds)

- Choraii, living starships, who tame humans. (TNG novel: The Children of Hamlin)
- Great Bird of the Galaxy, a flaming bird, which hatches inside planets, then destroys them, when she is reborn from them. (NF novel: End Game)
- Another kind of Great Bird of the Galaxy, a birdlike energy-creature with 3 eyes and four wings, which hatches inside a special class of suns, the Red flares, which become blue for the time, when the animals energy-pattern sleeps in them. After awaking, the bird travels to some global clusters outside the Milky Way Galaxy. (TNG comic: "Ill Wind")
- Telepathic ship-devouring entity. (VOY episode: Bliss)
- Gormaganders, also known as space whales (DSC episode: "Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad")
