Cossacks were a Human ethnic group who traditionally lived in Southern Russia and Ukraine.

The name for the ethnic group known as Cossacks originates from the fact that they were originally cavalrymen, and they would complain of pain in their groin. Cossack is archaic slang for the scrotum and surrounding area.

When used as an insult, it is essentially a more polite version of "dickhead" or similar. It is not necessarily demeaning the ethnic group to use it as an insult; however, it has somewhat fallen out of favor because of the possibility of it being misconstrued as racism.

History and specifics[]

Pavel Chekov often used the term "Cossack" as an insult. (TOS episodes: "The Trouble with Tribbles", "The Gamesters of Triskelion", "Spectre of the Gun", "Day of the Dove", TOS novels: Spock, Messiah!, The Covenant of the Crown, Deep Domain, Dreams of the Raven, The Cry of the Onlies, Rules of Engagement, The Disinherited, The Patrian Transgression, TOS comic: "The Return!")
