Costa Rocosa was a town on the east coast of Europa Nova's northern continent.

In 2376, during the Gateways Crisis, the crew of the USS Defiant discovered an Iconian gateway in Costa Rocosa. The Iconian device opened to Torona IV and Elias Vaughn was able to successfully negotiate with the Jarada to allow the Costa Rocosa residents to flee their irradiated planet through the gateway. The process of getting people through the gateway was interrupted when Tony Fusco took several people hostage and demanded that he and his family be allowed to use the gateway. Vaughn was able to stun Fusco with a phaser and the evacuation process continued. (DS9 - Gateways novel: Demons of Air and Darkness)
