The Cotton Club was a nightclub in New York City.

Among the entertainers who performed there were Duke Ellington, Ed "Snakehips" Tucker, Evelyn Welch, Bill Robinson, Stepin Fetchit, Cab Calloway, Andrew Preer, Louis Armstrong, Jimmie Lunceford, Harold Arlen, Lena Horne, Ethel Waters and Ivie Anderson. Benny Russell noted with irony that while these African-American individuals could perform there, no African-Americans were allowed to enter the club as customers due to the racism at the time. Russell has his own connection to the Cotton Club as his mother and aunt were dancers there and his father played piano. (DS9 novelization: Far Beyond the Stars)
